Ever walked into a massive factory changing room or a loading bay and felt that bone-deep chill? It doesn’t matter if the heater is running; the warmth just seems to disappear before it ever hits the floor. That’s because most systems try to heat the air. But in a room with high ceilings, the hot air just floats up to the rafters, leaving you shivering at the bottom. We do things differently. We use short-wave infrared technology. Instead of fighting with the air, these heaters send warmth straight to the people and objects below. It’s like stepping into a patch of sunlight on a winter day. Getting the power right To make this work in big spaces, we use high-wattage quartz or halogen tubes mounted in the ceiling. Depending on how high your roof is, we’ll set them up with 230V or 400V configurations to make sure the heat actually reaches the ground. But here’s the trick: you can’t just guess the wattage. If you go overboard, you’ll end up with “hot spots” that feel like a heat lamp at a buffet. Go too low, and the heat vanishes before it reaches the floor. We look at your square footage and how well your walls are insulated to find that sweet spot. A few things to keep in mind Installing these is pretty straightforward—they fit right into new or existing ceiling grids. Just make sure your wiring can handle the constant pull of the array, otherwise, you’re looking at a burnt-out cable.
