
Why Your Bathroom Mirror Should Actually Keep You Warm
Nobody likes that shock of stepping into a freezing dressing area first thing in the morning. It’s miserable. That’s exactly why we built these mirror infrared heaters. Most heaters waste way too much time trying to warm up the air in the room. We took a different route. We use shortwave infrared radiation, which basically means the heat goes straight to you and the things around you. No waiting around for the room to “warm up.” How it actually works Inside, there’s a quartz halogen element. We picked these because they’re powerful and fast—we’re talking full heat in under three seconds. The heat travels in a straight line. The moment it hits your skin or the bathroom floor, it turns into warmth instantly. It’s a great feeling; you feel the glow on your face before the air in the room even budges. The nitty-gritty on the build We tuck the heating element right behind or next to the mirror glass. Now, glass can be finicky with heat, so we use specific quartz tubing to make sure the mirror doesn’t crack under the pressure. As for the wiring, we use R7s snap-in connectors. I insisted on these because nobody wants to rip their entire mirror off the wall just to change a bulb. If a lamp burns out, you just pop the old one out and click a new one in. Simple. A few things to keep in mind These lamps put out a lot of heat, and it’s concentrated. If you mount the unit too close to cheap plastic or something flammable, things will warp. And a heads-up on your electrics: these lamps (usually 400W to 800W) pull a decent amount of power. If your home wiring is a bit old or undersized, you might trip the breaker the second you flip the switch. Also, make sure there’s a bit of airflow. If the mirror is completely sealed in, it can overheat if you leave it on for too long. Just give it some room to breathe and you’re good to go.
