An IP66-rated infrared heater doesn’t just make the air feel cozy. It actually attacks mold right where it starts.
How it actually works
Mold loves three things: dampness, stillness, and cold surfaces. That’s where short-wave infrared (SWIR) comes in. Unlike a regular space heater that just warms the air, these emitters penetrate surfaces. When that light hits a damp wall or a cold ceiling, it makes the water molecules vibrate and evaporate way faster. Think of it as a hidden dehumidifier. By keeping the walls warm, you stop water from condensing in the first place. And if there’s no condensation, the mold spores have nowhere to land.
Built for the “Splash Zone”
Let’s be honest: bathrooms are nightmare environments for electronics. Between the thick steam and the occasional accidental splash, a cheap heater will fry itself in a few weeks. That’s why we stick to the IP66 standard. It basically means the housing is totally dust-tight and can handle a direct blast of water without flinching. We use high-temp silicone to seal the electrical bits and tempered glass for the portals. That way, if a drop of cold water hits a scorching hot lamp, the glass won’t shatter from the shock.
Getting the heat right
Now, there is a catch. High-wattage lamps give you that “instant warmth” feeling, but they create a very specific heat zone. You’ll feel like you’re basking in the sun directly under the lamp, but the far corners of the room might still feel chilly. The trick is all in the placement. You have to match the lamp’s power to the actual size of your room. If you go too heavy on the wattage without enough airflow, you risk cooking the internal wiring. We designed these to swap right into the spot where your old, clunky convection heater used to be.
